15 Days Trip to North Ethiopia(Harar ,Afar) and South Omo valley – Ethiopia

Day 1: Addis Ababa Arrive in Addis Ababa,
Meet Our representatives then transfer to the hotel. Depending on your arrival time make sightseeing in Addis Ababa. The sightseeing includes the national museum (where you can see the Lucy fossil skeleton found) the Ethnological Museum, Trinity cathedral church, Entoto Hills, and Merkato.

Day 2
This Day we can drive Semera–Dodom-Ertale Meet the group? why we meet the group is because we have to Join some clients and begin the journey to Dodom, otherwise for a single person the price will be More Regarding that we can Join the group if we meet there, at the base camp to reach the Ertale volcano. Late afternoon, we can drive to the top of the mountain where you see the volcano, and spend the night observing the beautiful view of the glowing volcano eruption! Observe the volcanic activity, structure, and phenomena of the surrounding caldera and Lava Lake. Volcanoes to see with lava lakes are very rare in the world. The portable volcano is one and the most active volcano in the world. Ertale has been a continuously active volcano for the past 100 years. Lava constantly erupts from the surface. An incredible experience of a lifetime. At dawn, you will descend from the volcano and return to Dodom Base Camel.

Day 3 .Ertale – Hamedla
After enjoying the volcano early in the morning before sunrise, trek to base camp. Eat your breakfast before returning to Hamedla. Hamedla is a small rustic village where salt miners stop before crossing between the high and low lands of the Danakil Depression. You will walk through the Afar village and see their life, watching the camel caravan. Salt was once very valuable and salt ingots were used as currency in Ethiopia. This tradition of the camel caravan carrying salt bars has thousands of years of history.

Day 4 – Hamedla – Dalol
Drive from Hamedla to Dallol. Dallo is formed by the drift of three tectonic plates. It is found 130 meters below sea level in the geological depression. On the way, you will see the lake of Assale, where salt is extracted, and the camel caravans that bring the rock salt to the plateau. Drive and walk on the flat salt field, see the hot spring pools, etc. In general, Dallol is like a Mars cape full of yellow, green, blue, and orange colors. This all comes from the sulfur, potassium, iron, and other various minerals that form at the top of the hot spring bubble. Drive to semera.

Day 5
From semera Early morning after having breakfast we can drive full day Dire Dewa – Harar and drive to Hara. Drive to Harar and check in at your Hotel. if this day afternoon we can Reach earlier Harar after rest we can visit the city of Hara .or we can progress the next day morning.

Day 6
This day after having breakfast we can do further on the Harar city tour you will walk/Drive in the narrow alleyways of city paths passing through its colorful house and visiting the Sheriff Museum (former Ras Teferi Honeymoon house), Rimbaud House, and Harari National Cultural Center. Visit Harari’s colorful house and local market. One of The Best Experiences of Harar is to see the hyena man. He is a man who Tames the wild Hyena. He is usually found at his place after 6:30 AM. He feeds Meat to the wild hyenas every night. Sometimes by holding meat in his mouth and a Hyena comes to Grab it. The Hyenas obey him and they will not come unless he calls them by their names. It is a nice experience to feed the Hyena, many do it and you may also feed them some meat mouth-to-mouth 🙂

Day 7
Harar – Babile- Addis Ababa Morning Drive from Harar to Babile Camel Market and Valley of Marvels. Babile is the largest Camel Market in the region. It happens every Monday and Thursday. Somali and Oromo farmers will walk to Babile to sell their Camels Goats, and cattle. we will also drive further to the Valley of Marvels. It has wonderful landscapes, famous for its balancing rock formations. It is amazing to see how a big stone balanced and stays on a tip of a single stone. If It does not happen to be on a Market Day and not worth visiting Babile On your way back to Diredawa you will visit Koremi. Koremi is a village older than Harar itself. Its houses are built of stone in aver old style that may show the ancient architecture of the area. The People are Koremi plant a mild Narcotic plant called Qat and coffee. Drive back to Diredawa and we can Drive further to Addis Ababa. Overnight at Addis Abeba
Day 8
This day after having breakfast we can drive to southern Ethiopia to Arbaminch and we can see the Dorze tribes village and we can back to Arbaminch. And we will see lake chamo and nech sar national park at Arbaminch. Overnight with full Accomaditon at Ezan Hotel Day 9. Early morning after having breakfast we can drive to konso communal village (Gamole) where we will see the amazing landscape of the konso tribes’ Traced land and we will see konso cultural Arclogical Research museum center and we can continue to Lower Omo Valley further more via Arbore tribes village to Turmi. We will see here on the same day Arbore tribes village and can drive to Turmi.

Day 10
This day after having breakfast we drive Down Dassenech Tribe Drive to Omorate on the Kenyan border to visit the Dassenech Tribe. We will cross the Omo River in a wooden log canoe, hike back to the road, and travel to a remote village at the Kenyan border. The Dassanech live in the Omo Delta on the northern side of Lake Turkana. They are the most southerly tribe living in Ethiopia’s Omo Valley. Their name means ‘People of the Delta’. However, despite the lake and delta, it is an incredibly dry region, there is nothing but desert to the west and southwest. Cattle are central to the lives of the Dassanech, just as they are for the other tribes of the Omo Valley. The Dassanech Tribe is not strictly defined by ethnicity. Over time the Tribe has absorbed a wide range of different peoples and it’s now divided into eight main Clans. Each Clan has its own identity and customs, its own responsibilities towards the rest of the tribe, and is linked to a particular territory.  Afterward, we head back to Turmi with the choice of sleeping the night in a Hamar Village (we’d erect a tent and sleep with the tribe) or, if you don’t want to camp, we can stay .

Day 11
Nyangatom, Karo, Hamar Tribes  Drive to Nyangatom to visit one of their Omo R. villages. After, we will drive back to Korcho Village and the Karo (Kara) Tribe. The Karo live on the east bank of the Omo River. Their main wealth is goats, they have fewer cows. In recent years, partly due to the arrival of civilization and partly due to the spread of tsetse fly, more and more Karo people are beginning to farm, growing maize and sorghum. As there are a few Karos left, it is the smallest tribe of the Omo Valley. They live in several villages and don’t have weekly markets. They go to the markets of the Hamar Tribe in Demeka and Turmi. This Day can drive back to Turmi. Then we will see Hamer village in Turmi. Overnight at Evangadi Hotel
Day 12

This Day drive to Jinka via Keyafer Road(bena village) But in case, this day Tuesday, and Thursday is a market day in Dimeka, Alduba as well as Keyafer villages. So, if there is any ceremony or weekly market that takes place at any of these villages, then that will be visited in the afternoon.

Please note that: Most of the weekly markets we have in Omo Valley are not only a place to buy and sell, but they are rather weekly social events, where the tribal people exchange news as well as offer and receive invitations for whatever ceremony they have. So you will have an amazing experience at the market. After we will see the Ari Tribes village in Jinka.

Day 13
This Day early morning we can head to Mursi village. This day starts early morning with an excursion to the unique tribe of Mursi (approx 60km from Jinka). ( The women are famous for putting clay made circular lips and ear plates which symbolize beauty in honor) crossing through Mago National Park in order to reach their village. And we can see the Bodi tribe, and After Spending much time as needed to drive back to Jinka to have lunch then Continue To Drive back to konso Via keyafer . In keyafer we will stop once will see Benna Village we can stop take some coffee, and tea, and can continue to konso .

The morning after having breakfast we can drive back to Addis Abeba via Arbaminch. Overnight at Addis Abeba
Day 15
This Morning after having breakfast we can transform to Ethiopian International Bole Airport you can fly back to your country.
